Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza has admitted that the shock Carling Cup win over Liverpool will provide the club with a much-needed cash boost. The Cobblers beat the Premier League outfit 4-2 on penalties at Anfield on Tuesday night - one of the biggest results in the club's history. [LNB]"We were going to need some money just to keep the doors open this season," Cardoza told BBC Radio Northampton. [LNB]"But this should solve that now and it's great news," he added. [LNB]"We can pay our bills a little bit quicker. We've already brought in a couple of players and we should be looking to bring in one or two more. [LNB]Cardoza continued: "If we get a decent draw in the next round we could really kick on. [LNB]"But what a night, with 4,500 fans there (at Anfield) - I've never seen anything like it before."
