Can Cobblers Avenge A 'Rubbish' Display?

Aidy Boothroyd's side turned in their most disappointing performance of the season against weekend opponents Barnet

Although Northampton have already secured their place in the play-offs they should not lack motivation against the Bees, who are still in danger themselves of dropping out of the division.

The situation is a far cry from October when Edgar Davids made the headlines, becoming joint head coach at Underhill and turning out on the pitch for a 4-0 win against the Cobblers.

After that game Boothroyd told BBC Radio Northampton: "We made a team at the bottom look like superstars, and they're not. I went over and clapped the fans, because it isn't their fault we were rubbish tonight."

Defeat in North London was one of a number of bad displays away from home but Boothroyd believes his side showed enough at Port Vale last Saturday to believe they have found a way of playing on the road.

"We can take that into the play-off games that we’ve got," he told the Chronicle & Echo.
