Having landed Matt Duke on Monday, Aidy Boothroyd has added 26-year-old Irishman Morris to his squad.
"It's a fantastic move for him," Torquay manager Alan Knill told his club's official website. "He had a six-month contract with us but he phoned to say he'd been offered two years at Northampton.
"I think he'd already made up his mind and it's good news for him because having that security is very important."
Boothroyd has been impressed with the player's versatility, a key quality on the same day that Luke Guttridge and Ben Harding confirmed they would not be taking up new contract offers at Sixfields.
