Boss says Town failed to 'frustrate' their opponents

Aidy Boothroyd felt his Northampton side created decent chances against Bristol Rovers on Saturday but failed to do enough to instil nerves in a team who had not won at home prior to the game.

“It was a game we could have won,” he said. “When you come to a ground where they haven’t won all season it can be a bit like a library and the natives are starting to get restless.

“We didn’t frustrate them enough. When you have a man sent off your mentality has to change because you’re up against it and we shifted things across but we couldn’t get enough up the pitch to give them problems.

“But we still created three good chances, one we scored from, so we’re still creating, just not as much as I would like us to.

“With 10 men it’s a completely different ball game.”
