The experienced striker made a number of appearances for Coventry City in the Championship last season and had originally been signed for the Sky Blues by current Sixfields boss Aidy Boothroyd.
Platt was out of contract at the Ricoh Arena this summer but manager Andy Thorn had been talking about a potential new deal for the targetman.
Boothroyd believes he has signed a player 'above the level' that he will be playing in next season and told the official NTFC website: 'He has a fantastic attitude.'
