Akinfenwa shin worry for Cobblers
Akinfenwa has been dogged by fitness problems since signing for the club in January 2008 but has still managed to score 20 league goals in 42 starts.
Sampson said: "Bayo missed the Corby game on Saturday with a sore shin but that goes with the territory with Bayo.
"He has trained better this pre-season than at any other time since he has been with the club but we just have to manage his shin problem.
"His fitness and work rate has been first class and we are really pleased with him."
