Akinfenwa explains Northampton exit
Adebayo Akinfenwa felt he was not given enough time to decide on a new Cobblers contract The 17-goal forward's departure leaves a big gap to fill next season and he told the Northampton Chronicle & Echo: "I wasn't rushing to leave, I just couldn't sign within the deadline that the gaffer had. "Although the contract was on the table for about a month I didn't start thinking about it until the season was done." A host of clubs are likely to make a move for the powerful forward but he added: "After I finish my contract at wherever I land, though, who knows? "Maybe one day I will come back."
