A weekend of soul-searching at Northampton Town

Both players and management know that something needs to change

After spending an hour in the visitors dressing room at Vale Park on Friday night, hammering out home truths in the wake of a dismal 3-0 defeat, both Jake Robinson and Gary Johnson agree that things cannot go on as they are.

What they are unsure of however is what can be done to turn it around.

"We don't look like we're playing with any confidence," striker Robinson told BBC Radio Northampton.

"Something has got to change. That'll be up to the gaffer and staff but we can't carry on like this."

Johnson meanwhile, who has already chopped and changed plenty of things during his time at Sixfields, told the Chronicle & Echo that, in the wake of injuries to some of his star names: “Other people have to step up to the plate and so far the players we have asked to do that haven’t been doing it.

“Every now and then you try a player in a different position in the hope that will spur them onto a better performance.

“But it hasn’t happened so we have to keep looking and keep searching for that formula and keep going.”
