Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, Godfrey Oboabona has promised to stop Mexico's Javier Hernández popularly known as 'Chicharito' when both teams slug it out in an international friendly scheduled for Friday in the United States.

While speaking with MTNfootball.com, Oboabona noted that having been able to lock horns with top strikers at the 2013 African Nations Cup and emerge tops, marking at Chicharito would not be a problem for him.

"If I could stop players of the calibre of Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Gervinho at the Nations Cup, I can't be afraid to face any striker in the world. I will do my best to stop Chicharito and Giovanni Santos," Oboabona said.

"Both players are arguably world-class strikers and they are deadly but marking our Drogba has boosted my confidence not to fear any striker."

On his team's preparedness for the game and other matches ahead, the Sunshine Stars of Akure defender said, "We are all looking forward to an interesting match that will boost our confidence ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Namibia because that is the main thing all Nigerians are eagerly waiting for, but we will also give our best to maintain our record against the Mexicans."

Nigeria is using the friendly game against Mexico to prepare for their World Cup qualifying games against Kenya and Namibia where they are joint top on five points Malawi before proceeding to the FIFA Confederations Cup taking place in Brazil.

The Super Eagles have been pitched against World and European Champions, Spain, Uruguay and Tahiti in group B of the FIFA Confederation Cup.
