Loisel shortlisted for Nigeria post

Elizabeth Loisel, former France and China women's team coach, is one of the front runners to succeed Eucharia Uche as manager of the Nigeria women's team the Super Falcons.

"Elizabeth comes highly recommended and she is the front runner to take over the Falcons," a top official disclosed.

"It is high time that a foreign coach took charge of the team which needs a complete overhaul."

Loisel guided France to fifth place in the FIFA rankings, but failed to qualify the team for the 2007 World Cup in China.

The other shortlisted coach for the Falcons post is Dutch woman Hesterine de Reus, who has handled the Dutch women's Under 19 team and also the Jordan women's team.

Nigeria reclaimed the African Women's Championship in 2010, but they failed to shine at last year's World Cup in Germany.

They also failed for the first time ever to qualify for the All Africa Games as well as the 2012 Olympics.

A decision is expected this month.
