Keshi sacked - reports

Nigeria have sacked coach Stephen Keshi, according to reports.

A run of bad results in qualifying for the African Nations Cup appears to be the reason for Keshi's departure, although they did win 3-1 against Sudan on Wednesday.

A defeat to the same opponents last weekend, as well as a loss to Congo, would appear to have already made up the federation's mind, though.

A statement published on SuperSport, which it attributes to the NFF, said: "In the interest of Nigeria football and the desire to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals, the Committee decided to relieve (the coaches) of their duties with immediate effect."

Keshi, a former Nigeria international, took the job in 2011 after a spell with Togo and won the African Nations Cup in 2013.

Shaibu Amodu - a three-time coach of Nigeria - looks likely to replace Keshi.
