West Ham Eye Shock Late January Swoop for Ryan Fraser

West Ham are poised to make a last gasp January bid for Ryan Fraser, whose Bournemouth contract expires in June.

The 25-year-old experienced a breakout 2018/2019 season, scoring seven goals and registering 14 assists as the Cherries secured a comfortable mid-table finish. His fine form led to him being linked with a move away from the south coast, with Tottenham and Liverpool both courting the player during the summer.

No move materialised and Fraser has since struggled this campaign, scoring just one goal and racking up three assists. Despite this, West Ham remain admirers of the Scotsman and could make and offer for him in January, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The Hammers are currently level on points with 18th placed Bournemouth with a game in hand - though this is against leaders Liverpool who remain unbeaten in the Premier League this season.

West Ham suffered a 4-1 defeat to Leicester on Wednesday evening and Moyes recently conceded that the club may need to bolster their ranks in order to pull away from the relegation zone.

When asked if the Hammers needed reinforcements, the 56-year-old replied: "If we could, yes," as quoted by football.london.

"But also, what I don't want to do is bring in players that are not going to have an impact on the team. They have to have an impact on the team now, or buying a player that will be here for the next three, four, five years, longevity and develop into a top player.

"To get one who is in between that, a top player in the Premier League, is difficult. I don't want to take players other teams don't want."

West Ham have are understood to be chasing Sampdoria's Ronaldo Vieira, though their first approach for the player has been rejected by the Serie A side.

They also remain in talks to sign Roma's Steven Nzonzi on loan and have been offered the chance to recruit Nantes midfielder Abdoulaye Toure.
