Manchester United conducted a Europa League demolition job against Club Brugge on Thursday evening, with goals from Odion Ighalo, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and a brace from Fred securing a 5-0 victory.
Before all that though the Twittersphere exploded at news that Anthony Martial had picked up a muscle injury.
It's not the first time that a United player has suffered fitness issues this season and some fans were quick to make clear that they thought the club's medical staff were to blame.
Martial has a slight thigh injury which he sustained against Watford. He hopes to be fit for Sunday's game against Everton #mulive [rmc]

Would love to know what we do in training & how our medical staff operate with all these injuries. Top 4 is over if Martial’s injury is serious

Martial's injury did mean one very exciting thing though... a maiden start for Odion Ighalo. His fanboys were out in full force to support their exalted leader.
Some even guaranteed that he'd bag his first goal.

The game started at a relentless pace with Bruno Fernandes hitting the post early on. United's Golden Boy would open the scoring from the penalty spot just before the half hour mark, after some very entertaining VAR shenanigans.
It all started when Brugge's Simon Deli decided he wanted to be a goalkeeper and stuck his arm out to prevent Daniel James curling a shot into the bottom corner.
Unsurprisingly, a red card was issued and spot kick given. Fernandes was just about to take the penalty when the referee halted play for a completely unnecessary VAR check on whether the shot was definitely goal-bound. A full four minutes after the original decision, he finally converted from 12 yards.
VAR trying to work out if Mingnolet would’ve saved it 藍 Deli literally dived for it. Bonkers if it’s not a red!

Soon after, Ighalo's fanboys were proven right when the forward got his first United goal. The Nigerian looked delighted and lifted his shirt up to reveal an image of his sister, who sadly passed away recently.

Just when United thought things couldn't get any better, Scott McTominay celebrated his return injury by grabbing his side's third goal.

United went into the break 3-0 up and spirits on social media were high - until it was announced that Tahith Chong would be coming on in the second half.
The Dutchman has very few supporters on Twitter, especially as he continues to deny fan favourite Angel Gomes a place in the team.
How chong gets more game time than gomes is weird

Jesse Lingard was next in the firing line after he came on the replace the mesmerising Fernandes just after the hour mark.
Chat all this shit about Gomes working hard and he's a top talent.

Perfect game for Gomes to be on the bench. Guess what? Lingard gets another chance instead.#JusticeforGomes pic.twitter.com/T83dmtktt6

Then, something rarer than a solar eclipse took place - Fred grabbed a brace!
The Brazilian is not known for his goal scoring but grabbed a quick fire double in the closing stages of the game to cap off a fantastic evening for his side.
