Arsenal ended their nine-game run without a win, beating West Ham 3-1 despite going in to half-time behind.
Angelo Ogbonna had grabbed an opener for West Ham, who looked as if they were going to get a much-needed result of their own. However, shortly after the break, Gabriel Martinelli levelled the score with a lovely composed finish.

West Ham 1-3 Arsenal
Aubameyang's third, after goals from Pepe and Martinelli - all three of them in nine minutes - turned the game to seal @Arsenal's first win in games.

Two goals from Nicolas Pepe and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang helped Freddie Ljungberg to his first win as Arsenal boss, alleviating some of the immense pressure the Gunners have found themselves under in recent weeks.
Let's go back to the beginning, shall we?
Freddie Ljungberg has had a rocky start as Arsenal manager, with many Gooners questioning his starting lineups in previous games against Norwich and Brighton.
Freddie stepping up with a BIG BOY lineup!!
— 풟풶퓋푒 (@Dave9AFC) December 9, 2019
No excuses tonight if we don’t win the game. Will be down to the players entirely.
Let’s go lads! #COYG #AFC https://t.co/iOP7GW17kV
Okay this @Arsenal lineup should just do the job .... this is almost my perfect lineup but it’s just very close ....this is an Arsenal win ... @DStvUganda is on lock .. It’s going to be a much sweeter win watching from home
— Patrick Salvado (@idringp) December 9, 2019
Looks like Freddie Ljungberg made today's lineup based on Arsenal twitter's popular opinion
— Bar Berd (@Punchline254) December 9, 2019
Better luck next time, Freddie.
Aww hector bellerin is out of the west ham game. Would be first time we had the right team. Oh well maybe next time.#arsenal
— joshi Love ArsenalFC (@hitscharming) December 9, 2019
It was a very cagey beginning at the London Stadium, both sides passively letting the game drift by with little quality. However, it isn't too surprising given just how dire results, and performances, have been for the pair in recent weeks.
I cant believe who Im watching, I have never seen an Arsenal team so nervous going forward, sideways passing, zero creativity, no movement, no desire. Its fucking boring negative football and im soooo bored of it man.
— LL (@lukelondon_) December 9, 2019
Absolute snooze fest this. We look so nervous to make a mistake, confidence at an all time low at Arsenal right now
— Huncho Dré (@Dre199) December 9, 2019
West Ham and arsenal making millwall under Neil harris look like the Brazil team of the 70s, boring as fuck
— millwallmike (@millwallfan87) December 9, 2019
Why wasn’t VAR consulted for that Pepe tackle before? Was potentially a red card
— FG (@FunnyGooner) December 9, 2019
That's a red in my book. Intent to hurt. He could have wrecked Pépé's knee and Dean does not even blink. Consistently the worst referee I've ever seen.
— Chris of House Bones (@chris_zkelet) December 9, 2019
Cresswell is off the ground. Uncontrolled. Both legs tackle Pepe. WTF is VAR?! #WHUARS

The ball bounces around the Arsenal box before eventually Ogbonna comes powering with the header, which deflects past Leno!

Arsenal can't defend.
— David The Gear (@davidTHEGEAR) December 9, 2019
How can Ogbonna attack the ball like that to score and Xhaka can't?
Useless defence.
Useless players.
Arsenal’s defence in a nutshell. Slow to respond to a second ball in the box and then their centre half turning his back and ducking out the way of Ogbonna’s header. They have big problems and you love to see it

A slick move down the Arsenal left ends with Martinelli turning the ball into the net - a nice finish from the teenager on his first Premier League start.

And time for the captain to step up. Pepe's deflected cross landed at the feet of Aubameyang, who struck a well-hit volley - although David Martin could have done better in the West Ham goal.
Aubameyang volley 3-1!!! https://t.co/faZYi0vVZ9

OMG 3-1 #arseanl aubameyang finds the net with a lovely chip ball from Pepe we are gonna win the league it’s mad
— Rob (@Skinz_14) December 9, 2019
Aubameyang has a goal every 1.92 games. That is an amazing record
— Ishan (@ishan_MUFC) December 9, 2019
And that was that. Surprisingly simple in the end for Arsenal, given they couldn't buy a win.
Boy did Gooners need that.
Finally!!! A Much needed win!! 2 months of waiting comes to an end!! #arsenal
— vaidyanath (@ydn_14) December 9, 2019
First half Dire!! But Freddie must of said something right coz finally some heart shown . Finally a win! Important away win, let's build on this now #AFC #COYG #WHUvARS #PremierLeague https://t.co/tBLGA7Di8w

Eventually a win! Not a great performance but would say we looked a lot more organised! Few stupid lost balls and fouls but it’s a stepping stone to the next game and hopefully we get a run going! Lots to improve on. #Arsenal

But on the other side of the coin, West Ham's misery knows no bounds. Another poor result and Manuel Pellegrini is certainly in the firing line.
At the hour mark here I was thinking this Arsenal team is the worst I’ve seen. Yet they put 3 on us. Still don’t think they any good. Says more about us. Hopeless. Pellegrini out
— Ryan Hasler (@Eagleeyedkiwi) December 9, 2019
Pellegrini out
— Brennan (@Brennan6580) December 4, 2019
A change has got to happen now Pellegrini got to go! and any players that don’t step up under a new manager need to follow him.
