The Liverpool lineup that should start against Aston Villa

Liverpool have the chance to avenge their humiliation at the hands of Aston Villa earlier in the season when the two teams meet at Anfield on Saturday.

It hasn't been smooth sailing for the Reds since that 7-2 defeat, and their inconsistency was summed up perfectly this week. They were overwhelmingly dominant as they beat Arsenal 3-0, only to be deservedly thumped 3-1 by Real Madrid a few days later.

It's time to try get things back on track again, so here's how Jurgen Klopp should line up.

Liverpool predicted lineup

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Alisson (GK) - It was Adrian in goal when these two sides met earlier in the season, so Alisson and his moustache will be keen to show how that won't fly on his watch.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB) - In the spotlight now more than ever, Alexander-Arnold must bounce back yet again after a error-ridden performance in midweek.

Ozan Kabak (CB) - Quietly figuring out how to impress in England, Kabak is quickly becoming a crucial player for Liverpool. No wonder they're ready to pay up to sign him permanently.

Nat Phillips (CB) - The most polarising player at Liverpool these days, Phillips will be hoping for one of his better performances here.

Andy Robertson (LB) - The Scot probably needs a rest, but because of his importance to Liverpool, Klopp cannot afford to give him one just yet.

2. Midfielders

Fabinho (DM) - Klopp will be delighted to have Fabinho back in midfield. The Brazilian's calming influence is so important to Liverpool.

Thiago (CM) - No Naby Keita this time. Thiago should have started against Real and he needs to start this one. Enough said.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CM) - A regular with the captain's armband in the absence of Jordan Henderson, it's not hard to see why Klopp wants to keep Wijnaldum around.

3. Forwards

Mohamed Salah (RW) - Salah hasn't even been particularly good this year, and yet he's still chasing the Premier League Golden Boot. The man scores goals.

Roberto Firmino (ST) - Dropped for Diogo Jota for the Real game, Firmino should have the fire in his belly needed to start finding his best form once again.

Diogo Jota (LW) - Firmino coming back into the starting lineup shouldn't see Jota dropped, far from it. Instead, now seems like the ideal opportunity to take Sadio Mane - with only seven goals to his name all season - out of the firing line. Temporarily, anyway.
