Player Details

Joe Bennett is an attacking left back at Middlesbrough, where he came through the youth set-up. Joe made his debut as a half-time substitute at Upton Park in the game that eventually saw Boro relegated from the Premier League in the 2008-09 season. During the summer of 2009, Joe was a late call-up to the England U19 side that reached the UEFA Championships final - and his performances earned him a call-up to the U20 side. Gareth Southgate handed him a full Championship debut at Coventry in September 2009 and he went on to play five successive games. Joe's career at Middlesbrough looked uncertain during Gordon Strachan's tenure, but when Tony Mowbray arrived in October his fortunes changed, and he went on to become Boro's first-choice left back. Slight in appearance, Joe is quick and attack-minded, very much a modern day full back.
