Palermo axe Guidolin again

Palermo axe Guidolin again
Monday Mar 24 2008 15:23

Palermo have sacked coach Francesco Guidolin for the third time in less than a year, bringing back Stefano Colantuono in his place.

Guidolin had only begun his fourth spell in charge of the Serie A outfit in November, replacing Colantuono, who is now back in charge at the Stadio Barbera.

However, Guidolin reacted angrily to his team being barracked during their 3-2 defeat at home to Genoa at the weekend, even suggesting that the club may have planted protesters among the crowd.

A statement on the club's official website confirmed: "After examining the developments of the last few days, there are no longer the necessary factors in place for Palermo to confirm their faith in Francesco Guidolin.

"Therefore, he has been relieved of his post as first-team coach. That responsibility will be passed to Stefano Colantuono, who will take charge of training from Tuesday afternoon."
