Newcastle Considering Double Sale to Fund Move for Hull's Jarrod Bowen

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to sell two fringe players in order to fund a January move for Hull's Jarrod Bowen.

While the Magpies' strikers have struggled for goals in the 2019/20 campaign, Bowen's goal tally has put him firmly in contention for the Championship's Golden Boot.

A return of 15 goals and six assists seems to have caught Steve Bruce's eye, to the extent that he is willing to move on two squad players to ensure there is sufficient budget available to seal Bowen's arrival.

According to the Daily Star, Bruce is prepared to let both Ki Sung-yueng and Yoshinori Muto

leave the club in January in order to fund bids for new signings - with Bowen high on his list.

Sung-Yueng has featured in just three Premier League fixtures under Bruce, who has favoured Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff in central midfield positions. Muto, meanwhile, has failed to deliver a single goal in his six appearances this season - a common problem faced by Newcastle's first-team forwards.

Club-record signing Joelinton has scored just once since his summer arrival, while Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin have reached the same tally. Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll, meanwhile, have failed to score in eight and 12 appearances, respectively - although the latter has provided three assists.

If Bowen set a New Year's resolution of scoring more goals at this point last year, he has delivered in spectacular fashion and hit the back of the net more times than any other Championship player across the 2019 calendar year.

Coupled with an expiring contract that runs out in June and could reduce Hull's asking price, the 23-year-old represents an excellent proposition for Newcastle.

However, this appealing combination of goals and value is rumoured to have attracted the attention of numerous Premier League rivals, including Aston Villa, West Ham and Leicester City, which would mean stiff competition for Bowen's signature.
