West Ham forward Martin Samuelsen has been told that he has no future at the London Stadium and is free to seek a permanent move away.
The 22-year-old is back at the club following a successful loan spell at Eliteserien side FK Haugesund, where he scored 14 goals in 39 appearances.
But he looks set to depart West Ham after four and a half years, having joined as an 18-year-old prospect from Manchester City, after making just two appearances for the club.
Football Insider report that West Ham are keen to sanction a permanent deal for Samuelsen in the January transfer window, as they'd like to get him off the wage bill.
His £8,000-per-week contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he can leave the club on a free transfer. He's free to negotiate a move away for free now, with clubs from Holland and Norway said to be interested, while Championship outfit Hull City are also thought to be admirers.
The Tigers are unable to reach a contractual agreement yet though, meaning an agreement - likely for a nominal fee - will need to be reached.
If West Ham can push a deal through, they should be able to command a fee of around £200,000 - which makes up the remainder of the wages owed on his present contract. That money will then be reinvested in the Hammers' other youth prospects.
Samuelsen may have been unable to force his way into West Ham's plans, but he has had success during his time away from the club.
The Norway international has scored one goal in three appearances for Løvene, coming in a 4-1 victory over San Marino in February 2018. He has also enjoyed loan spells at English sides Peterborough United, Blackburn Rovers, Burton Albion and Dutch side VVV-Venlo.
Competition for places - from the likes of club-record signing Sébastien Haller - have nullified his chances of breaking through at West Ham, though, with his future now up in the air.
