Everton made an 'approach' for Belgium international Thomas Meunier, according to a report in France.

The Toffees had a quiet January transfer window but ,after a less than impressive couple of months at the start of 2019, could be highly active in the summer window in an attempt to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.

Marco Silva has struggled to find a consistent right back with both Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny out of form this season and Le10 Sport claim that the Merseyside club are interested in the PSG right back, and have already made an attempt to sign the Belgian.

The 27-year-old full back, who has only made 13 appearances in the league this campaign, has just over a year left on his current deal with the Ligue 1 champions.

Speaking to RTBF last season, Meunier said he wouldn't be opposed to signing for a smaller club in the hope of playing regular first team football. The Belgian has not been a regular for the French side, with Dani Alves often preferred at right back, and taking that step down could be what the player needs to show his capabilities.

While the report claims Everton have made an approach, it gives no indication of when this happened and if the approach was rejected.

Signing Meunier, who has experience at the World Cup and in the Champions League, would represent something of a coup for Everton.
