The agent of Emil Forsberg has spoken of his admiration for Tottenham Hotspur head coach José Mourinho, who is understood to be keen on signing the Swede this summer.

Once a star in the Bundesliga, Forsberg has fallen out of favour this season, starting just 10 league games all year, and he is now widely expected to leave the club in the summer.

Spurs are one of several sides who have been offered the chance to sign Forsberg, and his agent has fuelled talk of a move to the club by telling Expressen of his admiration for Mourinho.

“It’s nothing that surprises me at all,” Hasan Cetinkaya said when asked about Spurs' interest. "Mourinho is a great legend who has worked with Victor Lindelöf as well.

“Together with Victor, Forsberg is the biggest star in the national team and has caused total chaos in Leipzig. I’m not surprised. I can say this; everyone will soon see what will happen to Emil Forsberg.”

Along with Spurs, Manchester United are believed to be keen, while the midfielder is also said to have been offered to ArsenalEverton and Leicester City.

Interestingly, Mourinho was also linked with a move for Forsberg back in 2017 during his time with United, and he has now been tipped to finally act on that interest as the 28-year-old prepares to leave Leipzig in the summer in a deal worth around €20m.

Forsberg has spoken of his frustration this season, telling Sport Bild (via Sport Witness): "It’s not going well. I don’t have to prove myself anymore. I have a contract, but everyone knows that I dream of playing in another league again."

He initially rose to prominence back in the 2016/17 season, when he managed a whopping 22 assists in just 30 games, but his form has completely fallen off ever since.

In the three seasons since, Forsberg has racked up 11 goals and just 12 assists. His form has tapered off, while rumoured attitude issues are also reported to have played a part in his struggles, and it appears as though Leipzig are ready to part ways.
