Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth: Visitors Struggling in London & 5 Other Key Stats

03 December 2019 18:15

Crystal Palace will be looking to build on their comfortable 2-0 win away at Burnley when they host a tricky Bournemouth side on Tuesday night.

The Eagles won at Turf Moor thanks to strikes from Wilfried Zaha and Jeffrey Schlupp, while the Cherries will have been disappointed not to come away with anything in their 3-2 defeat away at Tottenham.

Here are a few stats, courtesy of Opta, for you to study ahead of the game on Tuesday night.

Selhurst Park a Bogey Ground for Bournemouth

Andros Townsend,Ryan Fraser

Since suffering defeat at Selhurst Park in their first Premier League meeting with the Cherries, Crystal Palace are unbeaten in three with one victory and two draws.

Last season saw Palace beat Bournemouth 5-3 in an absolute thriller on the last day of the season. Bournemouth will be hoping to adjust their fortunes this Tuesday night.

Goals Guaranteed in This Fixture

Jordon Ibe

This fixture has produced some absolute goal fests in the four matches that have been played at Selhurst Park.

The two teams have shared 17 goals, averaging an incredible 4.3 goals a game and, if these stats are anything to go by, we could be in for an absolute thriller on Tuesday night. Last season saw eight goals go in.

London Not a Happy Hunting Ground for Bournemouth

Harry Arter

Bournemouth have been struggling when it comes to playing in London as of late. They have lost their last five league games in London, conceding a whopping 19 goals in the process.

Before this woeful run of form, Bournemouth had been enjoying visits to the capital, having lost just one of six. They will be hoping to turn things around on Tuesday night in Croydon.

Eagles Struggling at Home

Luka Milivojevic

Despite an impressive start to the season, Palace come into this game off the back of three consecutive defeats at Selhurst Park. Admittedly, these defeats were to Manchester City, Leicester and Liverpool, but they'll still want to avenge those losses with a win over Bournemouth.

The last time Palace lost so many home games consecutively was in February 2017, when they lost five. Roy Hodgson, however, has never lost four in a row at home with a single club in the Premier League. He’ll hope to keep this record intact.

Cherries' League Troubles

Eddie Howe

Bournemouth have struggled with their form in recent weeks, suffering three consecutive defeats and quickly sliding further down the table.

They will be hoping not to make it four in a row on Tuesday night as they look to avoid being dragged into a relegation fight. The last time Bournemouth lost four in a row was barely over a year ago.

Harry Wilson the Key to Bournemouth’s Attack

FBL-ENG-PR-TOTTENHAM-BOURNEMOUTH

Bournemouth may have to rely on Harry Wilson, the on-loan Liverpool midfielder to create chances for the Cherries against Palace.

Wilson has scored five of his six Premier League goals away from home and is responsible for 56% of his side’s away goals this season. Bournemouth have only found the net nine times away from Dean Court so far.
