Chelsea manager Frank Lampard will learn within the next few days if the club's appeal against a two-window transfer ban has been successful.
The Blues are barred from registering new players until next summer, although they appealed the decision which could see the ban lifted in time for the January window.
With less than a month left until the transfer window reopens, Lampard revealed that he'll learn the fate of Chelsea's appeal within the next few days.
"Very soon, I believe. Days, I think," Lampard said, quoted by the BBC. "I haven't heard any more, so I would wait and reserve judgement [on Chelsea's plans for January] until we get the judgement and see where we want to go from there."
Chelsea's ban was imposed due to breaches of rules around the signing of several young players.
The club accepted their ban for the summer transfer window as they didn't rush an appeal, but their case was heard at the Court of Arbitration for Sport last month and Lampard now expects a verdict to be reached within days.
Chelsea's transfer ban specifically restricted them from registering new players, meaning that Croatia international Mateo Kovačić, who was on loan from Real Madrid last season, was able to move to Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis in a £40m move.
Christian Pulisic was another new player who joined Lampard's side this season, but the USA international actually joined the club last January before being loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.
Even with the transfer ban, Chelsea have been one of the most impressive teams in the Premier League this season and currently sit six points inside the top four.
The Blues could see their lead in the race for Champions League qualification slip by the time the January transfer window opens, however, as they face difficult away trips to Everton, Tottenham and Arsenal this month.
