Saïd Benrahma has caught the eye of a number of former Arsenal players, who have recommended the Brentford winger to the Gunners board in the hope they make a move for the 24-year-old.

Benrahma has been one of the Championship's standout players this season, recording 10 goals and five assists during Brentford's promotion push.

His flair, creativity and ability to beat a man have attracted interest from a number of Premier League suitors, including Arsenal, Leicester, Aston Villa and Newcastle.

According to reports in magazine France Football, Benrahma has 'caught the eye' of a number of ex-Arsenal players, who have "whispered his name to the club's board" in an attempt to persuade the powers that be to put their hands in their pockets and bring him to the Emirates.

Benrahma joined Brentford for just £1.5m from Nice in 2018, and enjoyed an eye-catching first season in English football, providing 14 assists - the most in the Championship.

As a result, this is not the first time that Benrahma has attracted interest from a top-tier side, and the Algerian international has made no secret of his desire to one day play in the top flight.

Speaking one week after the January transfer window shut, Benrahma said: “I am very focused on Brentford. At the moment, we keep winning and we are in a great position in the league.

“My ambition is to play in the Premier League. But at the moment, I will continue and progress playing my football at Brentford.”

Benrahma's Premier League dreams could yet be realised by Brentford, who currently sit fourth in the Championship after coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with playoff-chasing Blackburn last time out.

The Arsenal target was on the scoresheet from the penalty spot, taking his goal tally into double figures for the second season on the trot and leaving his side six points off Leeds in the automatic promotion places.
