Exiles missing Yakubu
Newport will be without defender Ismail Yakubu when they face Wycombe.
The 29-year-old suffered ankle ligament damage in the 1-1 draw at Chesterfield last Saturday and that injury, which saw him miss Tuesday night's home defeat to Plymouth, will rule out him for the rest of the season.
MK Dons loanee Ian McLoughlin will start in goal having extended his deal until the end of the season on Thursday. Fellow goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley is closing in on full fitness but Jamie Stephens' quad injury has ended his campaign.
Since beating Wycombe on Boxing Day to move into fifth place the Exiles have won just two of their 20 games and know another defeat could drag them into a relegation battle.
Gareth Ainsworth hopes Wycombe defender Leon Johnson will be available.
The experienced centre-back has returned to full training with his Blues team-mates having recovered from a hamstring injury and looks ready to boost their push for survival.
And the Chairboys will assess the fitness of midfielder Matt Bloomfield, taken off in the first half of their win over Dagenham having suffered a leg injury, and defender Anthony Stewart who has a hamstring issue.
One player who will not be involved as Wycombe look to extend the three-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone is Sam Togwell who was recalled by parent club Chesterfield on Wednesday.
