Pipe back for Exiles
Newport have captain David Pipe available for the home clash with Portsmouth.
Pipe completed his two-match ban on Tuesday night as they drew 0-0 with Bury and he is likely to return to the squad but the match may come too soon for fellow defender Ismail Yakubu.
The 28-year-old has missed their last three games with a thigh injury and while he has an outside chance of facing Pompey he seems more likely to target next week's trip to Chesterfield for a return.
New signing Darcy Blake and Kevin Feely are set to keep their places having impressed since arriving in south Wales last week but Byron Anthony, Jamie Stephens and Lenny Pidgeley miss out once more.
Andy Awford could hand Danny Hollands a debut when Portsmouth begin life after Richie Barker.
Awford, back in caretaker charge of Pompey following Barker's sacking on Thursday, has drafted in Hollands on loan from Charlton after fellow midfielder Toumani Diagouraga was recalled by Brentford.
Awford has also brought back striker Ryan Bird from his loan spell with Conference side Cambridge.
Skipper Ben Chorley is still suspended while Simon Ferry (back), Andy Barcham (thigh) and Romain Padovani (calf) are set to miss out again through injury.
