Newport wait on two

Newport will wait on the fitness of two players ahead of their clash with in-form Hartlepool.

Goalkeeper Joe Day (groin) and wing-back Ryan Jackson (hamstring) were forced out of their 2-0 win over Accrington on Friday night during the first half and will be assessed in the build-up to kick-off.

Andrew Hughes (knee) and Robbie Willmott (thigh) are already ruled out, with the Exiles revealing this week that the latter may not play against this season.

County are, however, boosted by the return of youngster Regan Poole who has been lining up for Wales' Under-17s in Russia and has missed Newport's last two games.

Hartlepool loanee Aaron Tshibola faces a race to be fit for the trip.

The Reading midfielder suffered a groin injury in the win over Cambridge but could be fit to feature after receiving treatment.

Two players Ronnie Moore will definitely be without are Scott Fenwick (ankle) and Matthew Bates (leg), while Stuart Parnaby's comeback suffered a setback during a midweek reserve game.

Jordan Hugill made his debut on Saturday as Pools moved out of the bottom two for the first time since October with their fourth consecutive win.
