Jon Parkin in line for Newport start

Veteran striker Jon Parkin could make his first Newport start in Crewe's Sky Bet League Two visit to Rodney Parade.

Parkin completed his three-game ban carried over from last season at Luton on Tuesday and made an impressive 20-minute cameo.

Lenell John-Lewis (knee) and Jack Compton (calf) are out, but apart from that Exiles boss Warren Feeney has a full-squad to choose from.

Winger Jennison Myrie-Williams overcame a thigh problem to play and score in the 2-1 defeat at Luton and should retain his place.

Crewe boss Steve Davis will be hoping to name an unchanged team following the impressive display against Hartlepool in midweek which should have brought more than just the one point.

That would see Chelsea youngster Alex Kiwomya, who has two goals and two assists in his first four games for Alex, and George Cooper occupy the wide positions.

In attack it will be Ryan Lowe and Chris Dagnall, who is just one goal away from his 100th in League football.

It could be another month before Liam Smith is ready to make his debut. The on-loan Newcastle midfielder is back at his parent club recovering from an ankle injury after scans last month revealed he had extensive bone bruising.
