Naylor set for Exiles bow

Newport look set to plunge new signing Tom Naylor straight into their starting line-up against Bristol Rovers.

The defender, who can also play in midfield, joined on loan from Derby earlier this week for six months after Byron Anthony suffered a broken leg in their 3-1 Capital One Cup win at Brighton and with fellow defender Tony James also out.

And having come through 90 minutes in a friendly against Cardiff on Tuesday Naylor looks set to be involved along with goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley who also started that match.

Fellow defender Ismail Yakubu is a doubt with a calf strain picked up in last weekend's defeat at Northampton.

Bristol Rovers boss John Ward looks set to name defender Garry Kenneth in his matchday squad.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined since January after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee but he played for an hour in a reserve game in midweek and is likely to be on the bench against Justin Edinburgh's newly-promoted side

Striker Ryan Brunt and playmaker Matt Gill are both back in training but the clash looks to have come too soon for them.

John Ward is still without Fabian Broghammer, Seanan Clucas, Jim Paterson, Danny Woodards, Matt Harrold and Jordan Goddard despite their injury crisis beginning to ease.
