Pipe blow for Exiles

Newport will be without captain David Pipe when they welcome Braintree in their FA Cup first-round replay.

Pipe will serve the second of his three-game ban for a red card in the victory over Portsmouth after the Exiles decided against appealing the decision.

Their 2-0 win over Hartlepool on Friday night saw a welcome return to the squad for Lee Minshull after a foot injury but the full extent of top scorer Chris Zebroski's injury has been revealed and the striker has damaged cartilage and dislocated his knee, sidelining the former Torquay man for at least six weeks.

Justin Edinburgh was only able to name six substitutes against Pools but his small squad are in fine form having won their last five games on home soil.

Braintree boss Alan Devonshire will check on midfielder Kenny Davis.

The 25-year-old was taken off at half-time in Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Alfreton after rolling his ankle. He will be assessed before the clash.

New signing Exodus Geohaghon made his debut at the weekend and could keep his place in the side if fellow defender Alan Massey (concussion) fails to recover in time.

Devonshire will also run the rule over Sam Habergham, who has missed the last four games with an ankle injury.
