Parish set for Exiles bow

Newport will hand new signing Elliot Parish his debut when they host AFC Wimbledon.

The goalkeeper has made the 28-day loan move to Rodney Parade from Bristol City in search of regular first-team football having seen Simon Moore line up for the Robins in recent weeks.

Parish's arrival came after injuries to their first and second choice goalkeepers. Lenny Pidgeley and Jamie Stephens are both sidelined which left last week's signing Conor Thompson as the club's only fit keeper before Parish's arrival.

The waterlogged Rodney Parade pitch means Newport have not played a home match since January 4.

AFC Wimbledon's injury problems are piling up ahead of the trip.

Midfielder Sammy Moore suffered a head injury during the first half of Saturday's 3-0 defeat by Rochdale and defender Barry Fuller limped off after the break.

The duo are added to a growing casualty list which also includes Will Antwi (hamstring), Callum Kennedy (ankle), Peter Sweeney (foot), Andy Frampton (shoulder) and Charlie Strutton (leg).

Boss Neal Ardley is considering dipping into the loan market for cover ahead of the match.
