Exiles wait on trio

Newport are waiting on the fitness of three players ahead of the clash with AFC Wimbledon.

Defender Ismail Yakubu had been declared ready to return from a hip problem but failed a late fitness test ahead of the victory at Portsmouth where Newport suffered two further injuries.

Striker Conor Washington was taken off with a bang to the head and defender Ryan Jackson suffered a deep cut in his ankle but manager Justin Edinburgh is hopeful they can feature.

Byron Anthony, Max Porter and last season's top scorer Aaron O'Connor are all on the comeback trail from long-term problems while Andrew Hughes is set to feature despite suffering tightness in his hamstring.

AFC Wimbledon skipper Alan Bennett faces a late fitness test ahead of the trip.

Defender Bennett missed last weekend's goalless draw against Mansfield due to an ankle problem but has made good progress this week.

Midfielder Harry Pell will miss out again with a knee injury but Sammy Moore is set to step into the centre after serving a one-match ban.

Defender Will Antwi (hernia), winger Chris Arthur (ankle) and striker Charlie Strutton (broken leg) are still out.
