Kal Naismith makes up for missed penalty with late Pompey winner at Newport

Kal Naismith's late free-kick capped off a dramatic Portsmouth comeback to earn a 3-2 triumph over Newport County.

A Josh Sheehan strike and a close-range Rhys Healey goal looked to have secured a much-needed victory for the Exiles.

Danny Rose kept Pompey in it before Enda Stevens looked to have salvaged a point, but Naismith's deflected free-kick saw them take all three.

After a shaky start, Newport went ahead after 25 minutes when Swansea loanee Sheehan struck.

Christian Burgess fouled County forward Healey and Sheehan curled a free-kick into the top left corner from 25 yards out.

The hosts went 2-0 up after 57 minutes when Healey tapped in from close range after David Forde failed to hold a Sheehan shot.

Former Newport midfielder Rose fired home from Gareth Evans' cross to give the visitors hope.

Naismith fired a spot-kick over the bar after he had been pushed in the box, however, full-back Stevens struck his first Pompey goal late on to level the scores.

And Naismith's deflected free-kick in the 87th minute saw Portsmouth pile more misery on bottom side Newport.
