Zola confident of keeping Neill and Upson at West Ham

Gianfranco Zola believes Lucas Neill will still be at Upton Park next season, despite West Ham captain's reluctance to take a pay cut on his golden £60,000 a week contract. The 31-year-old Australia international is at the end of his current deal and has attracted interest from Newcastle and Olympiakos, where former Toon star Temuri Ketsbaia has pitched up as manager. West Ham will undoubtedly want to save cash, but boss Zola is keen to hold on to the former Blackburn defender. 'There will be meetings in the next few days with Neill,' said the former Chelsea player. 'I am confident something positive will happen.' Zola is also desperate to keep Matthew Upson, who has forced his way into Fabio Capello's England set-up after an impressive season that saw the Hammers fall just short of qualifying for Europe. Zola said: 'Matthew looks to me that he's very happy here and he wants to stay and so it shouldn't be an issue for us.'
