Where Is The 35m Ashley Promised?
With fans shouting for a big name striker, what position is Alan Pardew in? Does he have the "big money" to splash out? Give us a player WORTHY to wear the No 9! With Leon Best up for sale, along with fellow striker Nile Ranger, does the future really rest in the hands of Peter Lovenkrands and the injury-prone Shola Ameobi? None have truly convinced the fans they are good enough to get us back into Europe and win us honours. The fans are crying out for a proven Premiership quality striker, but even with £35m from the Andy Carroll deal, Pardew is still fishing abroad in the bargain bin for players 99% of us have never heard of. Losing Kevin Nolan to West Ham United is a massive blow, because he is a midfield player who contributes so much with goals when the striking partnership up front fails. Nolan was the Magpies’ top-scorer last term, putting our strikers in the shade. Although Ba continued an impressive career goalscoring record at relegated West Ham last season – with seven in 12 appearances – Pardew knows he will be lucky to get half the 38 Premiership games out of the Senegalese next season because he is so prone to injury. While rumours Ba failed a St James’ Park medical were swiftly rebutted, it is well known he did so at Stoke City as recently as January. Having landed Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid at minimal expense, Pardew will have to come uo with a big name striker to appease the supporters. What's stopping him? He allegedly has £30m available ... IF you believe Mike Ashley (who insisted the money would go back into transfers) ... or is Mr Ashley talking bullshit like he has since he walked through the door at St James' Park?
