Tozer heads for Tyneside

Newcastle United have completed the signing of teenage Swindon Town defender Ben Tozer for an undisclosed fee.

The 17-year-old former Plymouth Argyle trainee has signed a deal running until the summer of 2012 with the Magpies, having made less than ten senior appearances for the Robins.

Tozer told his new club's official website: "I was called into the manager's office three or four weeks ago and he said that the club had accepted an offer from Newcastle.

"I could not believe it and straight away said that I couldn't turn the offer down. It's a brilliant feeling, it really is a dream come true and it hasn't quite sunk in yet.

"I've spoken with Sam Allardyce, he's a great manager and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"It's been a brilliant experience at Swindon and I thank them for what they've done for me, but now I'm looking forward to the future."
