Toon Set For 20million Bid? Yeah Right!

Rumours that Newcastle have made any approach for Sporting Lisbon's Chile international midfielder Matias Fernandez (who is believed to be valued at £20million) have been mocked by his agent. Newcastle are NOT planning a January bid for the playmaker - and that has been confirmed by Newcastle United today. Fernandez's agent, Alejandro Santiesteban: "I'm not aware of the reported interest in Matias from Newcastle. "Nobody has got in touch with me so I think it must be a rumour. "If a team is really interested in a player and has to pay a transfer fee then they have to get in touch with me and the club. That hasn't happened."
