Danny Simpson missed the start of last season through an ankle injury. Danny Simpson: “Last season I didn’t get a pre-season, so being part of it this time around is great for me. “I’d just had my operation on my ankle last year, and I couldn’t even jog, I was just stuck in the gym. “This time I aim to get as fit as I can. Last season was my first full year in the Premier League, and I want to improve on things in my second year. “I’ll be kicking on. It’s not just me personally, but last year we finished 12th and we want to finish higher than that and build on it. “There are new faces here, and a new emphasis – these are exciting times.”
