Toon 'Conduct' To Be Investigated

Charlton Ath were so upset with Newcastle's public pursuit of Rob Elliot, the south London club complained to the Premier League. And now .... ... Newcastle expect to be contacted by both UEFA and the Football Association.  French club Sochaux have warned Mike Ashley that they will be making a complaint to UEFA after accusing them of making an illegal approach for striker Modibo Maiga. Newcastle, who have chosen not to comment on the situation, have been linked with a move for the Mali international. Sochaux chairman Alexandre Lacombe: "Newcastle are going on contacting our players despite our refusal. "So we will register a complaint with UEFA, telling them such behaviour is not fair play. It is provoking destabilisation." Newcastle were expecting to be contacted by the FA last night. The FA will ask manager Alan Pardew to explain his comments in the build-up to Saturday's Wear-Tyne victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Pardew urged referee Howard Webb: "The referee needs to make sure he referees the game from a completely neutral point of view because Joey Barton has been in the press a fair bit this week and I'm sure he will get a mention in Sunderland's game plan." But stringent FA guidelines prevent any manager talking about match officials before a game.
