Cheick Tiote bailed out of the African Cup of Nations with a bitter-sweet performance.

He scored for the Ivory Coast but they were eliminated 2-1 by Nigeria.

He scored his first ever goal for his country - a header - but Nigeria were furious at being labelled "under-dogs" and put in a spirited performance and were worthy winners.

The Ivorian will be back on Tyneside this week.
