Taylor pledges Magpies stay

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor is focused fully on helping the club return to the Premier League and will not consider a January move away from St James' Park.

The 23-year-old former England Under-21 international has been linked with a number of top-flight clubs, but Taylor insists that he is going nowhere.

He told The Chronicle: "I definitely want to stay.

"I was part of the side that got us relegated and I want to be part of the side that helps us get our Premier League place back - it's as simple that.

"It's been very good here this season, we're all enjoying our football and training. We're much more together and we have team bonding sessions which we didn't have last year. It's a total change.

"I will pay no attention to talk of anybody leaving, you get so much speculation.

"The main thing is that we keep all of our players this January and if we can add a couple more, it will be brilliant.

"If not, the squad we have is good enough to take us to the Premier League. We'll then see what happens."
