Taylor eager to pen new deal

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor has no desire to leave the club and is desperate to sign a new contract with the ailing Magpies.

Taylor still has 18 months left on his current deal, but recently rejected the offer of an extension and talks have since been placed on hold.

Despite rumours suggesting Taylor will leave St James' Park in the summer, the central defender told Sky Sports News: "I'm 100 per cent committed to Newcastle.

"I can't see myself leaving this football club. This is where I want to play my football and I'm happy here.

"Obviously working for Kevin Keegan for me is fantastic. I remember me and my dad on the terraces going to games and to be now working under him is fantastic, a dream come true.

"It's been a difficult last few months and I think results haven't been going our way. On Saturday against Blackburn it was a massive improvement, the team has been working hard and we're sticking together.

"I think if we keep playing like we did on Saturday there's no reason why we can't move up the table. Obviously we're in a bad position at the moment but there's room for improvement."
