Steven Taylor could have made England squad
England Under-21s boss Stuart Pearce believes Steven Taylor could well have made Fabio Capello's squad for Euro 2012 had it not been for his Achilles tendon injury.
Having hobbled off the pitch in the home defeat by Chelsea on Saturday, Taylor underwent surgery yesterday and looks set to miss the rest of the season.
I'm sure Pearce is just offering words of encouragement, but it must be a kick in the nuts for Taylor to think he could have made Euro 2012.
Stuart Pearce: “We are strong at senior level in central defence, but three years ago Steven was keeping Gary Cahill out of the U21s.
"Now Cahill is in the senior team and Taylor has only just got his place back in the Newcastle side.
"Things can turn around quickly though and Steven knows that.”
