Stars On Show At Consett Tonight

Newcastle United's young players take on Consett tonight.

Gael Bigirimana, James Tavernier and Romain Amalfitano could all line up for Newcastle against the Northern League side (7pm kick-off).

This is Consett’s last game at Belle Vue.

Willie Donachie’s team agonisingly missed out on a place in the end-of-season play-offs when they were beaten by Everton on penalties at Goodison Park last week.

And Donachie expects the same attitude and application from the players against the Steelmen, who are moving to a new home next season.

Willie Donachie: “It’s a good way to finish the season – I’d rather they played a game than trained.

“It’s a chance for them to play against more mature players. We can see how professional the older players are in the game.

“It’s not a ‘nothing’ game – it’s important for all the players.

“We know it’s a big Newcastle area, and it’s a chance for supporters to see their team.

“It’ll be nice for them to come and see the young players. There are players with a lot of potential, like Remie Streete.”

Admission at Belle Vue is £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and £1 for children.
