St James' Park Ready To Welcome Hughton!

Saturday 22nd of September ... the date Norwich City visit St James' Park ... will be a time Chris Hughton never forgets.

If ever a bloke deserved another crack at Premier League management then it has to be former Toon boss Chris Hughton.

When he became Norwich City boss he said he was flooded with letters from Toon fans wishing him well.

Hughton played his part when the club were relegated following the brief reign of Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

We were without a leader in the summer of 2009 with some players jumping ship, but Hughton transformed the mood of the club.

The 'Parasite' Michael Owen was first to leg it down Barrack Road, with Damien Duff, Oba Martins, and others hanging onto Owen's shirt-tails.

But Hughton quickly healed the dressing room and made Newcastle "United" once again.

Hughton deserves the credit he gets for leading the club back to the top flight at the first attempt but ... as ever at Newcastle ... controversy was around the corner and he was fired despite leading his side into a comfortable position.

Hughton is one of the few real gentlemen left in the game and will always have the respect of the Geordie fans.

His return to St James' Park with Norwich next season promises to be special as fans get a chance to show their appreciation in true Geordie style.
