    Solano makes U-turn

    27 Oct 2006 - 11:55:17

Newcastle United winger Nolberto Solano has peformed a dramatic U-turn after revealing he is ready to return to international action with Peru.

Solano has not played for his country since falling out with former coach Freddy Ternero 12 months ago.

But, following a round of discussions with new coach Franco Navarro, the 32-year-old is ready to end his international exile.

"I feel good about returning for the national team in the friendly with Jamaica and I would also like to play in the Copa America next year in Venezuela," he said.

"I have spoken with the coach and we have reached an agreement for my return to the national team.

"When I took the decision to not play for Peru it was because there wasn't any kind of plan and the players like me that travelled from Europe received criticism."

Solano felt the wrath of former Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson due to his previous international commitments.
