Sol open to Magpies move

Former England defender Sol Campbell has revealed he is open to the possibility of joining Newcastle United.

Campbell, 34, is a free agent having left former club Portsmouth at the end of last season and has been linked with a move to St James' Park.

The former Tottenham and Arsenal defender has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Everton and Aston Villa target Steven Taylor at the Championship club.

Campbell, who has won 73 international caps, told the Daily Star: "I would love to sign for Newcastle if it is possible, but we'll have to wait and see."
