Norway international Per Ciljan Skjelbred is still keen to join Newcastle United despite the uncertainty currently surrounding the club.
The 21-year-old Rosenborg midfielder is also interesting Sunderland, Tottenham, Fulham and Torino but Skjelbred is believed to favour a move to Tyneside.
The Chronicle quoted a source close to the player as saying: "He's unconcerned about Newcastle's relegation, as he's certain they'll be back up in the Premier League after only one season in the Championship.
"He's hoping to get to play for Alan Shearer, who's one of his heroes.
"There was talk of a move to Sunderland, but he has his heart set on Newcastle. If he doesn't go to Newcastle, he's unlikely to sign for their greatest rivals."
The Magpies also continue to be linked with Molde defender Vegard Forren and Brann winger Erik Huseklepp.
