Shearer learns from Robson

Alan Shearer has revealed that he is in regular contact with his former manager Sir Bobby Robson. The 76-year-old led the club to successive fourth, third and fifth placed finishes in his five seasons in charge on Tyneside before he was sacked in August 2004. The club are virtually unrecognisable from the one which Robson left five years ago, with Shearer taking over with the Magpies in the bottom three. Newcastle blew the chance to take a massive leap towards safety when they lost 1-0 to Fulham at home on Saturday - with Robson watching on from the stands. The Toon now go into their last game of the season at Aston Villa knowing that they must better the result of Hull - who host Manchester United - to guarantee survival. "Yes, I speak to Bobby on a regular basis," Shearer said, before highlighting that he takes bits from every manager he has worked under especially Terry Venables, Robson and Kenny Dalglish. "He has given me little bits here and there which is great. It's nice to speak to him."
