Newcastle United forward Antoine Sibierski will miss the final couple of games of the season after undergoing surgery on an arm injury.
The 32-year-old Frenchman sustained the injury during the 1-0 defeat at Reading on Monday, having to be replaced early on in the second half at the Madejski Stadium.
Magpies boss Glenn Roeder told the club's official website: "Antoine has undergone an operation on his broken arm and will definitely miss the rest of the season.
"It's a shame because he has been fantastic for us this year.
"Luckily we have Shola Ameobi and Michael Owen back now, but our luck with injuries has been awful all season."
Meanwhile, back-up goalkeeper Tim Krul is finally back in action after nearly six months on the sidelines with a knee injury.
However, the 19-year-old Dutchman accepts that he may have to leave St James' Park on loan next term to further his career.
He added: "My plan is to continue to work hard over the summer and hopefully go out on loan next season to get some more experience, although nothing is definite."
